EMDR Intensives--A Deeper Path Towards Healing

Sometimes healing can’t wait and does not need to….

So many of us know what it’s like to feel stuck or caught in old patterns, weighed down by painful memories, or exhausted from “just getting by.” Traditional weekly therapy can be powerful, but it often unfolds slowly, stretched out across months or years. When you’re longing for relief now, or when life makes it hard to commit to weekly sessions, it’s natural to wonder: Is there another way?

This is where EMDR Intensives come in.

What Is an EMDR Intensive?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Intensives are extended therapy sessions that allow you to do focused, transformative work in a shorter timeframe. Offered in half-day, full-day, or even multi-day formats, Intensives condense what might take months of weekly therapy into just a handful of powerful, personalized sessions.

Instead of stopping just when things start to open up, an Intensive gives you the time and space to stay with the process, move through it, and come out the other side with clarity, relief, and momentum.

Research shows that EMDR Intensives can lead to faster results with fewer sessions overall. In this way, they are not only a powerful therapeutic tool, but also a smart investment in your mental and emotional wellness.

Why I Value EMDR Intensives

One of the things I love most about offering EMDR Intensives is the deep work that happens in this format.   It’s my experience that EMDR always lends itself to deep and powerful work that results in amazing transformations.  So why prolong that?  Clients often experience rapid changes and profound shifts that might have taken months to unfold in a weekly model. It is deeply rewarding to witness someone move from a place of heaviness or stuckness into new levels of clarity, freedom, and self-trust in such a short amount of time.

Is an EMDR Intensive Right for You?

You may benefit from an Intensive if:

  • You’re ready for deep, focused work

  • You want faster relief from trauma, anxiety, or feeling stuck

  • Your schedule makes weekly therapy hard to maintain

  • Your body still reacts—even when your mind “knows better”

  • You’re seeking extra support beyond regular sessions

  • You want a healing experience that feels like a personal retreat

What You Can Expect

With an EMDR Intensive, you’ll experience:

  • More time and space to dive deep into your healing

  • Faster relief from painful memories and symptoms

  • A supportive container where you can process and integrate fully

  • A chance to step off the treadmill of survival and move into true transformation

Healing doesn’t have to take years. With the right support, your brain and body know how to move toward wholeness.EMDR Intensives create the conditions for that healing to unfold safely, gently, and at your pace.

When choosing an EMDR Intensive therapist, it’s important to find someone who is both well-trained and a good fit for you. Look for a therapist who has completed EMDRIA (https://www.emdria.org) approved training and, ideally, is certified or pursuing certification, as this shows advanced skill and commitment to the work.

Not all EMDR clinicians offer Intensives, so you’ll want someone with specific experience in facilitating extended sessions and who understands how to pace the work safely. A thoughtful Intensive therapist will take time to assess your needs beforehand, prepare you for the process, and provide integration support afterward so you can carry the benefits into your daily life. Just as important, trust how you feel with them because healing happens best in a relationship where you feel safe, supported, and truly seen.

With light and love,

Allison
